There are a number of services online that offer calligraphy.
Does anyone have any experience with any and/or could recommend a specific service, artist or individual.
I can write the words. I just want them...you know...written as art.
It's one of the most incredibly kool things about Arabic in my opinion.
Heck, while we're at it...I'd love to learn how to do this.
My Arabic instructor didn't really know anyplace in my local (San Diego, CA, USA) area to study. Any suggestions about online, books, or local resources?

Re: Calligraphy
Wed, October 18, 2006 - 10:17 PMthe only calligraphy course I know of is at Portland State University, and it's a summer course that covers the history of calligraphy, reading the various styles, and writing ruq'a. To get something written well, you'd be better off finding a local artist- ask around at a mosque, etc- most people will know of someone who does wedding invitations, etc. using the internet is really hard because it's difficult to convey what kind of shape, style, etc. you want. there are books to learn arabic calligraphy (i have one on ruq'a) but it takes a LOT of practice and the books can be expensive. -
